Then

I design video games for a living. Previously, I was...

Preparing for October

  • Making assets and getting organized for Lunaires.
  • Trying to get some rest before starting a new weight lifting program.
  • Slowly migrating my notes to this still very WIP version of my website.
  • Diving into biceps tendonitis causes and remedies.

Stacking up voxels

  • Looking into a quick and dirty RPG in a Box setup for a personal daily level design challenge in October.
  • Getting a pair of clubbells to spice up my workouts. It's really enjoyable.
  • Still exploring algorithmic sequencing with T1. I love it.

Rebuilding

  • Seeing Mono of Japan live. Just, wow.
  • Recovering from a shoulder injury, looking into new fitness programs.
  • Getting fed up with my current website setup, migrating to Grav.
  • Spending a lot of time exploring image generation with Stable Diffusion.
  • Playing Death Stranding, which is quite weird, in a good sense.

Moving furniture

  • Swapping desks and furniture at different floors alone.
  • Feeling pretty happy with the physical strength I've built so far.
  • Diving further into euclidean rhythms and loving it.
  • Messing with AI image generation and breaking things.

Drawing again

  • Rediscovering the simple joy of drawing with a pen after a couple of decades.
  • Adding sitelen sitelen glyphs support to Pimeja.
  • Starting Inktober with sitelen sitelen and people seem to like what I posted.
  • Managing to fix my broken card deck system for Auspex, finally!
  • Relearning to type on my now legendless ortholinear keyboard. Easier than I thought.
  • Attempting one more time a Pathfinder: Kingmaker playthrough.

Fearing the future

  • Reading Sum by David Eagleman. It's thought-provoking, but it lacks universality and feels incomplete.
  • Watching The Social Dilemma and feeling awful, even if I am already aware of the topic.
  • Revelling in the silent solace brought by my new noise-cancelling headphones.
  • Wondering who I am and what defines me as a human being.
  • Discovering the stunning work of Stuart McMillen.
  • Thinking that writing short stories could be something I might attempt in the future.
  • Trying to update Opuscule with a proper Toki Pona glyphs export.
  • Debugging Auspex, again and again.
  • Finding an excuse to do Inktober despite feeling close to burn out and not liking the TM controversy.
  • Starting to learn sitelen sitelen in preparation for Inktober.

Slowly burning out

  • Testing ways of implementing a simple Toki Pona translation exercises system in a HTML file.
  • Thinking about writing a long form piece about conflict in video games and empathy systems.
  • Doing crazy good scores on old Melodics lessons I gave up silver-starring months ago.
  • Feeling generally tired and thinking I need some actual vacations.
  • Giving another try to meditation. It's quite helpful for letting off steam so far.
  • Starting to look into Taoism, since Toki Pona was inspired by it.
  • Still debugging and refactoring various parts of the Auspex combat code.

toki pona li pona

  • Implementing old and unofficial words in Pimeja, my Toki Pona dictionary.
  • Testing new array functions in RPG in a Box to add actual card-based mechanics to Auspex.
  • Still playing Littlewood. I really enjoy this game, its simplicity and laid-back mood make it special.
  • Starting debates on the supremacy of violence in video games and the lack of empathy-based systems.
  • Realizing Toki Pona may be a fantastic tool for exploring the universe of my Forlorn Tree game project.
  • Designing a new tool to help learning Toki Pona with a variety of translation exercises.
