Then
I design video games for a living. Previously, I was...
→ Coding & drumming
- Finishing Lunaires.
- Diving deeper into synthesis with the Analog Four.
- Crafting procedural dungeon algorithms with RPG in a box.
- Taking online courses to produce drum & bass.
- Actually learning and understanding basic music theory. About time, heh.
→ Rekindling the flame
- Feeling the itch to restart work on Under This Forlorn Tree.
- Thinking my conlang project would perfectly fit with it.
- Looking forward to also compose the soundtrack with my current setup.
→ Keeping the pace
- Still making Lunaires levels every day (and having fun!)
- Finishing my Scorn playthrough. It's a beautiful failure of a game.
- Really starting to enjoy diving deeper into the Analog Four intricacies.
→ Overwhelmed
- Preparing levels for Lunaires in advance. This week is very busy.
- Seeing Einstürzende Neubauten live. That was insanely beautiful.
- Managing to do two game jams at the same time.
- Making dirty techno with my A4 + AR + T1 setup.
- Playing Scorn. Questionable yet uncompromising design, amazing art and sound.
→ Pushing builds every day
- Working on Lunaires, which is time-consuming, but also a lot of fun.
- Making quick and dirty ambient/dub/techno with the T-1 and the A4 for Lunaire's soundtrack.
- Resuming regular weight lifting slowly while recovering from long head of biceps tendonisis.
- Experimenting and adjusting my diet and lifestyle for better results.
- Slowly getting used to the excellent Model 100 split keyboard.
→ Making music again
- Thinking about changes and new features for Auspex.
- Experimenting and working on new tracks with the OP-Z. I'm totally in love with this device.
- Silver-starring grade 9 funk lessons in Melodics and reaching level 15. Funk beats are pure joy.
- Trying to come up with something for the 2020 Microfiction Game Jam.
- Recording a preview of my OP-Z experiments.
- Finishing Inktober 2020! All my sitelen sitelen drawings can be found in this thread.
→ Teenage Artiphon Engineering
- Trying to understand how to send the right MIDI messages between iOS apps.
- Having so much fun with the Orba I decided to get an OP-Z to complement it.
- Diving into the pure bliss of the OP-Z. The most fun I had in years.
- Listening to some Plastikman classics.
- Ending up making soothing ambient chill beats instead of acid, and absolutely loving it.
→ Making beats
- Thinking about making beats for Novembeat with the Orba.
- Enjoying the Inktober sitelen sitelen ritual.
- Trying to resume my meditation practice, and failing. Again.
- Learning more about myself and my inner workings. It's enlightening and terrifying.
- Searching a quick and dirty workflow involving the Zynthian and the Orba.
- Making little progress on my acid techno attempts but loving how it sounds.
- Feeling tempted to invest in a hardware tracker like a Digitakt or an OP-Z.
→ Being globally confused
- Wondering what the hell I'm doing with life and going through an existential crisis.
- Failing to prioritize my bazillion projects. As usual.
- Starting to read David Graeber's Debt: The First 5000 Years. It's awfully interesting so far.
- Working on various small improvements for Auspex.
- Going further than I ever did in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, and enjoying it.
- Having a blast with the Orba I kickstarted ages ago and finally received. So much fun!
